Double cleansing is exactly what it sounds like; cleansing your face twice, but with two different types of cleansers. It’s a method that originated in Korea and Japan, and it’s become a staple in skincare routines around the world, especially for those who wear makeup or SPF regularly (which should be everyone, by the way!).

Double cleansing ensures that all traces of makeup, sunscreen, and impurities are removed, so nothing’s left behind to clog your pores.

Clean skin = better absorption. By clearing the way, your toners, serums, and moisturizers can work more effectively.

Ironically, two steps can be gentler than one. Instead of scrubbing hard with a single cleanser, double cleansing can break things down more effectively and reduce irritation.

Using the right oil and water-based cleansers can help maintain your skin’s natural moisture barrier, leaving you clean but not stripped.
How to Do It
Step 1: Oil-Based Cleanser
Start with dry skin. Apply your oil cleanser (like the Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil) and gently massage it in for 30–60 seconds. This melts away makeup, sunscreen, and sebum. Rinse with lukewarm water.
Step 2: Water-Based Cleanser
Apply a foaming or gel cleanser (such as Round Lab's 1025 Dokdo Cleanser) to damp skin. Work it in gently for another 30 seconds to lift away the remaining dirt and sweat. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Step 3: Pat Dry and Follow Up
Very gently pat your face dry with a clean towel and move on to the rest of your routine- it's that simple!
